Investing is the second pillar of my personal philosophy. Learning to make sound investments is what allows you to improve your circumstances. Investing is simply a commitment of time, money, and effort deployed in order to achieve your goals.
A life without goals is a directionless life. There are times when it may make sense to go with the flow, but ideally, you become the director of your life. Investments are what allow you to choose the manner in which you live your life.
As discussed in my Saving Series, your savings unlock the ability to invest. You can invest in your skill set, in experiences, or in acquiring assets that pay you. Successful investments require a strategy, an understanding of risk vs reward, and a combination of money, time and effort.
Investing is what allows you to Choose Work You Love. Investing in yourself and your skills makes you valuable, allowing you to command more for your time. Building a portfolio of assets that provide for you frees up your time to pursue things that matter to you. This unlocks the ability to work how you desire.
Investing is the gateway to freedom. Pursued to their extreme, investments give you the ability to never need to work a day in your life again. To those following a Financial Independence Retire Early strategy, investing is the essential component of creating a portfolio that provides for your needs.
In my Work Series, I discuss how your investments can influence how you work. Investing is a quality goal to strive towards that allows you to improve your current and future life.
Creating a life where you can comfortably invest in yourself and assets is an essential skill in the modern day.
